Borehole Brings Safe Water to Tolon
A new hand-pumped borehole in Tolon, Northern Region, now serves about 480 households. Before the pump was commissioned, many families walked to seasonal ponds or shared distant wells that ran low in the dry months. Rahama Family Foundation worked with a local water committee to site the borehole, train pump caretakers, and agree on simple rules for use and repairs. Households collect water in jerrycans and basins, and volunteers show families how to keep storage containers covered. This borehole is part of a wider clean-water effort in the Northern and Savannah regions: eight hand pumps are now in use, with committees responsible for day-to-day maintenance.
